Carson Jay Robisons første indspildning var hans egen "The Little Green Valley" fra 1928 men allerede i 1924 blev han spillet på radioen. Robisons karriere fortsatte helt frem til 1956 og han skrev og indspillede et hav af sange, alle med et western tilsnit. Blandt Robisons største hits kan nævnes "Carry Me Back to the Lone Prairie", "Barnacle Bill the Sailor", "I'm Goin' Back to Whur I Come From", "Left My Gal in the Mountains" og "Sleepy Rio Grande" og havde et samaarbejde med Vernon Dalhart and Frank Luther. Robison og Luther optråddtte som Bud and Joe Billings, sammen indspillede de Robison's komposition "Goin' Back to Texas" og de stod bag nogle af de første indspildninger af "Utah Trail" og "Red River Valley".
